Responsible Processes

Rheem manufacturing facilities achieved Zero Waste to Landfill by diverting at least 90% of waste from landfills, incineration, and WTE. We have great momentum to close the gap on 50% greenhouse gas emissions reduction by the end of the 2025.1

Facility energy efficiency and improved energy sources
Finding ways to use less overall energy reduces the burden on the grid and improves the opportunity for renewable energy to cover more of our usage. Automation, shutdown procedures and improved process flows reduced our energy consumption. In available markets, we sought out renewable energy contracts and implemented on-site renewable energy with solar panel installations to further reduce our carbon footprint.

Production process control
Improving our stewardship of materials reduces how much has to be extracted from the earth. This focus also improved our refrigerant leak detection programs due to the significant impact these substances have on the environment.

Zero Waste to Landfill
Establishing and maintaining strong vendors to recycle and compost are vital to our program; however, to further move the needle our teams worked to design out waste in the first place. Hands-on teams uncovered local solutions to have a global impact to implement reusable pallets, reduced packaging from suppliers and more.
